Seven UFCW Bay Area and Central California Coast Locals Merge

Members of seven UFCW Locals in the San Francisco Bay area and the California central coast voted to merge their Locals. Locals 120 (Oakland), 373R (Vallejo), 428 (San Jose), 839 (Salinas), 870 (Hayward), 1096 (Salinas) and 1179 (Martinez) have formed the new Local 5.
This merger immediately positions 25,000 members of the new Local 5 to concentrate their strength and more effectively coordinate preparation for upcoming retail food negotiations in Northern California.
