Albertsons Announces Date For Shareholder Vote

Albertsons Inc. announced today that the registration statement relating to the proposed acquisition of Albertsons by a consortium of investors has been declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Albertsons has scheduled Tuesday, May 30, 2006, as the date of its special meeting of shareholders. At this meeting, shareholders will consider and vote upon the acquisition of Albertsons by the consortium of SuperValu Inc., CVS Corporation and an investor group led by Cerberus Capital Management LP.
